vivo Account Privacy Terms

vivo (collectively, "we", "us", or "our") is the provider of vivo account (referred to as "this Service") and the organization responsible for the personal data processed with respect to this Service. We care about your privacy and think it is important that you know why and how we process your personal data. In this vivo Account Privacy Terms (referred to as "this Terms"), we therefore cover the following content:

Please read this Terms carefully and make sure that you have understood our practices regarding your personal data before you give your consent and start using this Service.

You are not obliged to consent to the processing of your data with respect to this Service, but please be aware of the following: IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THIS TERMS OR IF YOU WITHDRAW YOUR CONSENT, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THIS SERVICE.

  • 1. Collection and Processing
  • Data and purposes:
    • Basic services
      In order to maintain and update this Service, solve abnormal problems, or send notices to you of our software updates, policy updates, or other information that may be important to you, we will collect your device identifiers (such as GUID/GAID, depending on your software version), country/region code, operating system version, device model, software version, and other basic device information.
    • Account Registration and Login
      When registering a new vivo account, you will need to provide a phone number or an email address to use as the account name and set up a password. Your account number and password will be encrypted and stored on our servers. We strongly recommend that you do not share your password information to prevent theft of your account by others. Meanwhile, we will collect your registration country/region in order to provide you with relevant features and services of accounts in corresponding countries/regions.
      When you successfully register a vivo account, we will generate OpenID, UUID, and other account identifiers for your account. These account identifiers will only be used to mark your account and will not directly identify you as an individual. When you log in to vivo.com, Themes, iManager, and other websites or applications with your vivo account, we will use these account identifiers to identify your account and provide you with the features and services related to vivo account.
      When you log in to your vivo account, we will collect your account data (OpenID) and security token to maintain your login status and avoid frequent re-login. Such data will be processed using Cookie or similar technologies.
      You can quickly log in to your vivo account by binding a third-party account. When you log in to your vivo account with a third-party account, we will collect your third-party account information (email address or phone number, depending on your third-party account registration method).
    • Profile Completion
      You can change your profile picture or complete other personal profile on the Profile page of the Service. Your profile picture and other personal information will be encrypted and stored on our servers. If you choose not to change your profile picture or complete your profile, your use of the basic services and features of vivo account will not be restricted.
    • Help & Feedback
      When you provide your feedback via Help & Feedback, we will collect some necessary information (such as the description of problems and any other information you voluntarily provide) to help you better resolve the problem.
    • Account Security
      For account security purposes, you can set security questions to retrieve your password in case you forget it. We will collect the security questions and answers you set and use them to verify your identity if necessary.
      When you register an account, log in to your account or retrieve your password, we may send you a message or an email containing a verification code to your phone number or email address to verify your identity and ensure the security of your account.
      In order to provide you with the Device Management feature, we will collect your email address, device identifiers (IMEI, EMMCID, UFSID, GUID, etc.), and device login records (including device model, login time, etc.) so that you can view your account login status on different devices and manage your login devices in order to improve account security.
      In addition, we will use the account data and device data collected for above purposes, as well as service usage and network information (such as records of registration, login and password retrieval, and the IP address of your device), for detecting or preventing various types of misuse of services and fraud in order to provide you with safe and reliable services.
    • Problem diagnosis & service improvement (optional)
      In some areas where Send usage & diagnostic data is available, if you have enabled this feature, we will collect your device identifiers (such as GUID/GAID, depending on your software version), software operation and abnormal information to analyze and solve problems, improving our products/services. You may learn more details or disable this feature at any time by going to Settings > About phone > Customer service > Send usage & diagnostic data on your device.
    • Personalized recommendations (optional)
      In some areas where Personalized recommendations is available, if you have enabled this feature, we will collect your device identifiers (such as GUID/GAID, depending on your software version) and your usage information to draw inferences about your preferences, choices, and interests, and then provide recommendations that are more relevant to you. You may learn more details or disable this feature at any time by going to Settings > Privacy > Personalized recommendations on your device.
    • Get special offers and product news (optional)
      In some areas where the Get special offers and product news is available, if you have enabled this feature, we will use your personal data that we have collected (including the phone number or email address you used to register your account, as well as other device information and usage information) to send you news, offers, promotions and other content related to our products or services that may be of interest to you via email, message or other means. You may disable this feature at any time by going to Settings > vivo Account > Account and security > Privacy and deletion > Get special offers and product news on your device.
    • Data Statistics
      We may do statistics on data we collected, to understand the performance of our products/services and solve common problems. Such processing will be carried out with the aggregate data without identifying your individual identity or characteristics, thus ensuring that your privacy is fully protected.
      Some of the above features may not be available to you due to different countries/regions and software versions. Features supported by this Service are subject to availability. Please kindly note that we will only process data described under the feature which you enabled or you are using.
      We process the data for the above purposes upon your consent to this Terms. However, other legal bases may be applicable on certain occasions as stated in Section 2 of our Privacy Policy.
  • Security:
  • We care about protecting your personal data. We have put in place appropriate security measures, including but not limited to encryption and anonymization techniques, which are designed to protect your personal data from unauthorized use, damage, or loss. We will do our best to protect your personal data. If you suspect any unauthorized use, damage, or loss of your personal data, please let us know immediately by the contact details set out below.
  • 2. Storage
  • Period:
  • We will retain your personal data collected by us for the period necessary for the above purposes of processing, or as required by you, or applicable laws.
  • We will retain and will not delete the data we collect from you hereunder so as to maintain the availability of your account, unless you delete them yourself or give us instructions to do so. When you complete the account cancellation process, we will delete the data related to your account within 30 days, unless applicable laws require otherwise or agreed upon in this Terms. Please be noted that such cancellation and deletion are irrevocable, therefore we recommend you cancel your account with caution.
  • In some cases, even if you request to cancel your account or delete some content, we may retain your data for the following purposes:
    • For purposes of customer relationship management, we will retain personal data related to the exercise of data subject rights, consent records, and customer interaction records for up to five (5) years from the last interaction.
    • For purposes of protecting your data and service security, we will retain data backups and app logs for at least six (6) months from the date they were created.
    • For the purposes of satisfying the requirements of applicable laws, we will retain personal data processed for invoicing or transaction purposes for up to seven (7) years from the date of issuing the invoice or completing the transaction.
    • If your account is penalized or disabled for violating laws, regulations, or our terms, we will retain information about the offending account for at least six (6) months to prevent repeat violations or other violations of our terms.
    • If we need to process your personal data to comply with legal requirements or obligations, cooperate with government investigations, or investigate possible violations of our terms and policies, the retention period of the relevant data may be longer.
  • Once the retention period expires, we will delete or anonymise your personal data in due time, unless otherwise required by applicable laws and regulations.
  • Location:
  • To provide the same level of data protection as that of the user's country/region and respond to users' requests more efficiently, the location where data is stored varies for users in different countries/regions. Please refer to the Storage and International Transfer section in our Privacy Policy to find out where your personal data is stored.
  • 3. Sharing and Transfer
  • We will process your data ourselves, or by use of our affiliated companies, or service providers who act on our behalf. In order to deliver security verification messages, your phone number will be encrypted and transferred to the following third-party message service provider(s). You can click hereto check the list of third-party message service provider(s). In order to deliver security verification emails, your email address will be encrypted and transferred to the following third-party service provider(s): Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL and Wuhan SendCloud Technology Co., Ltd. Please be aware that we have signed a data protection agreement with the aforementioned service provider(s) and they will provide protection for your data at a standard that is no less than ours. Besides, we will only share your data when required in response to a legal process or request from a competent authority according to applicable laws.
    Since we operate internationally, and to make it possible for you to use our product worldwide, your personal data may be transferred to or accessed by entities located in other countries/regions. We comply with laws on the transfer of personal data between countries/regions to ensure your data is protected, wherever it may be.

  • Withdrawal of Consent:
  • You may at any time choose to withdraw your consent to this Term by tapping the Withdraw consent button, which may be found in the Service under Account and security > Privacy and deletion > Privacy settings. If you withdraw your consent, we will stop processing your data in this Service until you re-agree to this Terms.
  • Other Rights:
  • To exercise your other rights (such as rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, or data portability, depending on applicable data protection laws), please contact us by the contact details set out below.
  • Complaint:
  • You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
